William Hicks

Conductor and pianist William Hicks has served as assistant conductor and voice coach for Maestro Lorin Maazel’s May 2006 production of Britten’s Turn of the Screw at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. He also served as assistant conductor and pianist on the recent Albany Records release of Thomas Pasatieri's La Divina and Signor Deluso, supervised by the composer.

As a longtime private voice coach and pianist, Mr. Hicks has worked with several of the leading singers of our time: Luciano Pavarotti, Franco Corelli, Renata Scotto, Marta Eggerth, Roberta Peters, Anna Moffo, Carlo Bergonzi, Regina Resnik, Sherrill Milnes, Teresa Stratas, Catherine Malfitano, Thomas Hampson, Jerry Hadley, Ruth Ann Swenson, Régine Crespin, Judy Kaye, Marcello Giordani, Rockwell Blake, Margaret Jane Wray, and Harolyn Blackwell. He is the pianist on Ms. Blackwell's recordings Blackwell Sings Bernstein: A Simple Song and All Through the Night. He is also the featured pianist on the legendary Marta Eggerth album My Life, My Song.

In June 2006, Mr. Hicks appeared with soprano Harolyn Blackwell at the new Morgan Library Concert Hall in a program titled Give My Regards: Landmark Songs of the American Musical Theater. He also conducted the London Sinfonietta in a recording of Jerome Kern’s Have a Heart.

William Hicks travels extensively giving master classes in preparation, presentation, and appropriate repertoire selection to young singers. He was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky, and resides in New York City.
